Making an #ObsidianMD Theme

This is part of #ObsidianOctober and something I’ve decided to take part in since it’s letting me learn.
You can make themes or plugins this month, submit them and possibly win Obsidian credit.
So, I took the learning opportunity to design a theme based on a website (since the colours are easy enough to grab and I would have less complicated stuff to do from the start).
It’s going well so far as I write this on the 11th. I have the colours sorted, made things center align, wrapped the file titles, changed a few things around and I’m happy with it. It’s not the most complex theme out there, but it’s a start. I learned how to do all of these things this month.
As part of that I set up an Obsidian Publish site to share things that don’t necessarily fit into this blog but that I’m learning or find cool.

Just as a side note: I am using my penname on there and for anything linking to GitHub or Discord since I first joined the server using that and didn’t want to change it after the five-ish months I’ve been using it.
I thought that might potentially be confusing/ leave a lot of links needing updating.
So, why bother?
Well, I wanted to see if I could learn something new this month. I’ve already been interested in CSS / HTML but never really tried anything like this. I’ve made minor tweaks here and there but always with a lot of help.
It’s been nice to come home after work and decompress with this, or to wake up in the morning and spend five minutes fiddling about with the colours to get everything to look good.

Why am I telling you about this?
Well, mostly to encourage people to see what’s going on in communities you’re part of, if there’s any events that you can get involved with, do. I wouldn’t have started learning this if it hadn’t been for the event & the ObsidianMD community.
But also, find something you can learn, that’s not just something on your school curriculum. Find something that’s yours, that you like and are interested in and pursue it.
It doesn’t have to be for a career (mine isn’t!) or for bettering your CV and personal statement! It can just be a hobby and hobbies are important.
I took up embroidery when I was in Uni and loved it, I could sit down for hours with my needle and thread and feel relaxed. I didn’t feel any pressure. I also write poems (which, this hobby I do have a Ko-Fi set up for), and I’ve tried flash fiction. It’s what interests me.
Hey! Tara here and thanks for checking out my blog. I update every Tuesday with posts about studying tips, advice and talk about productivity and organisation too. If you want to keep up to date with my latest blog posts I’d love it if you subscribed to this blog.
