I loved Journal It a bit more than Bullet Your Life and it’s taken me a little bit of time to put into words exactly why I liked it and why I would recommend it to everyone.
The layout
You have sections for journeys, tags, categories, people, activities, habits, reminders, notes, statistics, templates and photos in the side bar which is so many options that it’s kind of intimidating. So I didn’t use all of those all that much. In the bottom bar it’s a lot simpler and you have home, planning, journeys and activities which is much more manageable and the part I used most of all.
On the home page you can make a new entry, quick entry and log a habit which is what I mostly focused on. The wealth of options were a bit too difficult to use consistently for me, but don’t let this put you off, the app is so comprehensive you won’t need another one.
The Good
I like that it has the option to journal and log my day. I get to track my moods, what activities I’ve done and write bits and pieces as well as share photos. It’s a great digital diary.
The to-do option is so flexible and I love it. You can set due dates not just by specific dates but by saying “in a week” etc. which makes it easy to use.
These are easy to use and if you get stuck there’s also instructions in a note which means you’re not just guessing at how to use the app effectively.
Activities are a good way to habit track – I set it up to read, summarise my day and clean and found it a natural way to keep track of these things.
The design is clean and simple but that means you aren’t getting distracted by pictures or additional colours. It’s kept interesting enough with the splashes of colour there.
The Not So Good
Because there’s so many options it did kind of intimidate me a bit
I found it hard to keep using it long term but that’s more because of my own planning style (and having my physical BuJo which I do prefer overall).
And that’s it. I really can’t think of much more this app could have done. The creators are listening to feedback and they’re engaging with users well.
If you want to check out the app for yourself you can find it here on the play store
