Work, work and more work

Is never good for you. You need to let yourself have some time to recover from doing things all day every day, even if some of those things are hobbies you enjoy like going out for a combat training session or meeting up with friends at a book club.

Think of it like this – you wouldn’t go to the gym every day and do high intensity work outs and then repeat that same thing the next day. You would be a wreck after not very long, so, why do it to your brain? It makes no sense.

In between going to the gym you have rest days to give your muscles a chance to recover. When you’re studying all day every day you aren’t giving your brain a chance to recover. You need to do some things that aren’t studying or going to work and just relax.

For me that’s chilling out with my CSI rewatch or catching up with Critical Role. It’s something completely unrelated to my studies where I feel no pressure to be writing, where I don’t have the worry about getting things done on time. I have a chance to sit there, relax and enjoy the shows.

My advice for this week? Find something like that and have at least one night a week where you aren’t studying or working. Give your brain time to recover and you’ll feel better for it.
