Trello and AnyDo: App Reviews

Updated: Feb 26, 2021

Trello and AnyDo App Reviews, because these have been some of my favourite apps I started using them this year. I decided to try and start the year right, being organised and attempting to do a bit of exercise on my study breaks again to help with my legs and arms.

Trello – web version found here and the app here on the Play Store

This is a great app & site for keeping track of your progress. I have a board made for each module. Within these boards there’s five lists: Readings to do, Readings (finished), Assignment – to do, Assignment – Doing, Assignment – Done. I’ve been putting the books, poems, articles and so on that I need to read for that module in the first list at the start of the semester/ year and then once they’re done moving them to the next one. When I come to write an essay plan it goes into the to-do section; this is for what I want to research, any questions I’ve got to answer and for what parts I’m writing. Again, as each thing is being done it’s moved to the ‘Doing’ list and then ‘Done’ once I’ve completed that.

I love Trello since I can use it for modules like above but I can also use it to keep track of blog posts on here. I used to try and use my BuJo before realising that I preferred keeping that for my crafting and university related things (as well as appointments). I have a board for this blog; lists for ideas, scheduled posts, drafts and published posts. I’m also going to be using this for dissertation planning this year – keeping track of my research.

One of the biggest plusses to using Trello for me was the chance to label and colour code (living that studyblr life) for each card. This makes it so much easier to sort through research for each section of my work; I can edit and re-order what parts I want to as and when I want, and also to colour code and see clearly which section each thing belongs to. The ability to put a checklist in a card is a life-saver too! Each card can have notes too so whatever thoughts I have I know I won’t lose.

AnyDo – Found on web here and the play store here

This is a to-do app that I’ve only recently started using but have fallen in love with. There are premium features (such as different themes) but this isn’t an app that requires a subscription to be useable.

Like any to-do app these days you can create different lists and then tasks within these lists. Notes can be added as well as sub tasks and you can add reminders if it’s a time sensitive thing. If you have files relevant to the task you can add them to it as well which is amazingly useful. You can sort what you see by the list it’s in or the time you need to do it (eg. tasks for today, tomorrow, upcoming and someday.

Since it has an app as well I’ve started using this in place of Plan. That was a bit too difficult to use consistently and not forget about with it being web only and with that only functional properly (to me) on laptop/computer.

I like that the app has a permanent spot on the notifications bar on my phone and through that I can see and scroll through the tasks I have.

Bonus App recs!

Since we’re here, I may as well share another couple of apps that I’ve been loving recently. They aren’t related to studying or productivity but have been so much fun to use on breaks.

Now this one you can use for studying if there’s a topic dedicated to what you’re wanting to study (like me and my Shakespeare exam) but it’s a great way to chill out. You’re put against another random player (options for single player mode and to challenge friends exist) and you have to answer multiple choice questions. There’s 7 rounds, four options each round. I’ve been playing it since I was in Secondary School and it’s one of my favourite apps since I love quizzes so much.

This gives you different types of puzzles each day (my favourites are picture cross, quote slide and sudoku) and different tasks to complete to earn a bonus reward. It is token based and you earn a set amount of tokens for each day played (increases to the max amount after 7 consecutive days which is 20 tokens per day). The games usually cost 20 tokens to play but there are discounts which lower this to 10 tokens per day.

Hey! Tara here and thanks for checking out my blog. I update every Tuesday with posts about studying tips, advice and talk about productivity and organisation too. If you want to keep up to date with my latest blog posts I’d love it if you subscribed to this blog.
