Timetable: App Review

Updated: Feb 26, 2021

Today's post is an app review of Timetable.

When I was in my first year of uni I really struggled with remembering what and where my classes were.  I got lost in buildings, couldn’t remember which building was which and I often couldn’t remember what class I had. I’d just follow people that I knew were in my classes and hope for the best. So, I decided to do something about it and download a timetable app.

This app is the one I use and swear by.

When you open the app you’re on the Dashboard, from here you can access settings, create a new lesson and see upcoming tasks and exams. There are also day view and week view options.

There are also tasks, exams and holidays sections which are pretty self explanatory.

Tasks and exams: enter a name, the subject (class), the due date, type of task and any notes. I put assignments under the tasks category, and any actual exams under the exams category.

Holidays section keeps me right on term times and when we have reading weeks.  I always forget and then have to be reminded that I don’t have class that week.

The reason I love this app so much is that I can have two widgets on my home screen – one for classes (that cycles through each day and shows just that day’s classes) and one for the assignments. Far more easier than having to load up an app every time. I also get notifications ten minutes before each class is due to start to remind me where it is, and with who.

It’s simple, easy to use and there aren’t too many features that I’d get confused or distracted by. Classes can be colour coded, I can see it in the widgets and all the information for each class is there.
