Habitica- a RPG that helps you organise

Updated: Feb 26, 2021

Habitia is an RPG mobile app that helps you stay organised.

And I’m a big lover of things being organised.

I like to know where everything on my laptop is, where the things in my room are and to know exactly what I’m doing that day, week and month. It’s why I use a BuJo (Bullet Journals – I definitely recommend making and using one of these and you can see my post on it

here!). But sometimes I don’t want to crowd my daily BuJo sections with all of the tasks for that day, especially the morning routines and little habits that I’ve been working on, and this is where Habitica comes in.

Habitica is one of the first apps I downloaded when I got my new phone, it’s bookmarked and at the start of the bookmarks bar on my Google Chrome.

Like any RPG you have health points, experience points, skills and have the chance to upgrade these things and buy equipment. You gain experience and gold by completing to-do’s, habits and dailies. A daily is “a task that must be done once per day on specific days of the week” (quote taken from the Wiki), a habit however can be positive or negative, depending on if it’s something you want to keep doing or stop doing.  To-do’s don’t repeat and once you click to complete the to-do it disappears, unlike dailies and habits which repeat.

This system makes it incredibly easy to put in what I want for my morning routine. I simply make a new daily task to complete each morning and then for my evening routine it’s the same. And then it’s done, repeating whenever I want it to, easy as that. If I don’t want to clutter up my BuJo with tasks like “Sort file”, “Make cover sheet” etc. I can just write “Do Habitica to-do’s” in the BuJo and I’m done.

I’ve used Habitica on and off for a while but really got into it at the start of the summer. I decided I wanted to get more organised and take better care of myself and this really helped me with that. And the best part that I’ve saved until now?

I get to hatch eggs and feed the animals inside and get pets and mounts. And they’re adorable.

Hey! Tara here, and thanks for checking out my blog. I update every Tuesday with posts about studying tips, advice and I also talk about productivity and organisation too. If you want to keep up to date with my latest blog posts I’d love it if you subscribed to this blog.
