Hey! Tara here and thanks for checking out my blog. I update every Tuesday with posts about studying tips, advice and talk about productivity and organisation too. I’m also going to be sharing my language learning journey. If you want to keep up to date with my latest blog posts I’d love it if you subscribed to this blog.
Set their alarm
Getting up early isn’t possible for everyone. Some people’s sleep schedules just don’t allow it or they can’t seem to manage it and feel put together. I’m not talking about that here, although I personally wake up around 7am every day. That’s just how it is naturally for me.
I’m talking about setting your alarm to remind you to get up out of bed and doing things – I’ll wake up at 7 and have a good 10 minutes to just lie there and meditate, then another 10 minutes to read through news of the day, check the weather and all that. I have a final 10 minutes to write good morning messages to some of the people I’m close to.
Meditate or reflect
This is such an important step for me and I wouldn’t be half as organised without it. Even if you don’t spend some time meditating properly, you can reflect on yesterday, the last few days and what you want to achieve. Think about what you’ve accomplished and envision what you’re going to accomplish that day. It’s a great way to set up positive day and to keep you motivated.
Plan their day
Organised people plan their day (either the night before to read it in the morning or) in the morning. It gives you a good look at what you’ve got on today. From here you can go through the little things like “Do I really have time for X?” and work out if you need to or can delegate some tasks, if some can be migrated to another day in your BuJo and more. It’s a good set up for the day that leaves you feeling like you know what’s going on.
Have a morning routine
Following on from that previous tip, organised people have a morning routine. For me that looks something like this:
Wake up & Meditate
Read news / check weather
Send morning messages to friends/ my partner
Make breakfast
Brush teeth
Check & reply to emails / important messages
I do this every day, giving myself a bit of a break on weekends sometimes and instead replacing the reply to emails with read or do puzzles because they’re both things I enjoy a lot.
Tidy up!
While I try to be as clean as possible, I will admit to leaving some mess when I’m going to bed. Whether that’s me only having the spoons to put the plates in the sink, or leaving the day’s clothes in a pile on the floor. So, in the morning I’ll get up and I’ll sort those things out – less clutter in your physical space, less clutter mentally. It starts me off on the right foot.
I’m not meaning to do a full scale clean and tidy in the morning but it’s the little things. I like to spend anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes just putting things back into order. It could be that you’re picking up kids toys or organising those papers you left on the desk last night. Even if it’s just one thing that you’re putting back in place, it’ll set you up for a good day.
